Vinyl Cut
Vinyl Cut Project
This project was quite a bit of planning and a lot of sketch work playing with flower geometry. Which as you know is the Golden angle a ratio devised from the Fibonacci sequence. If you don't know that you are a loser and I ask you leave my blog. I only enjoy the company of those whom are pretentious. Hnuf hnuf hnuf hnuf.
So first I had Bryan help me come up with the sketch in processing which turned my current processing sketch into a PDF file. From there we live traced it in illustrator to make an SVG file which could then be cut on the vinyl plotter.
With the cuts done I had the brilliant idea of sticking the backing unto a vinyl record so it could be spray painted. When rotated from the exact center the Golden angle looks to be animated, I felt the record player was a good real world object to keep my work spinning.
After spray painting here it is.
Angling up the record player and adding a rubber band to the arm, actually made the work spin forever.
Thanks for all the help with this project Bryan.
